What We Believe

We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and thus the sole basis for our beliefs.

We believe that it was uniquely, verbally and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit, and that it was written, without error, in the original manuscripts.

It is the supreme and final authority in all matters on which it speaks. (1 Tim. 3:16, 2 Peter 1:20; Matt. 5:17-18, 2 Peter 1:3; 2 Tim. 3:16-17)

We believe God eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe God is the sole Creator and Sustainer of the universe. (Deut. 6:4, Gen. 1:1; John 1:3; Col. 1:16-17; Is. 57:15, Rom. 1:20; Matt. 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; John 6:27; John 10:30; Acts 5:3-4)

We believe that Jesus was both God and man, born of a virgin, and that He lived a sinless life. He was crucified and died as a penalty for our sins and was bodily raised from the dead on the third day. He ascended to the Father’s right hand where He is the head of the church and from there He is coming again personally to claim His bride, the Church. (John 1:1, 10:30; Is. 7:14; Luke 1:27, 34; Rom. 5:19; 1 Peter 3:18; 1 Cor. 15:4-8,20; Matt. 28:5-6, Eph. 1:20; Heb. 7:25)

We believe that the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, dwells within all believers and that He baptizes, fills and refills the believer in response to their yielding to His Holy will. The evidence of a Spirit-filled life is the presence of the fruit of Spirit. We believe that God gives specific gifts of the Spirit to each individual in the church and we seek to use those gifts to build up and serve the Body of Christ and the community in which we live. We believe that all of the gifts and offices mentioned in the New Testament are present and active today in the Church. (Acts 1:8; 1 Cor. 12:13; Gal. 5:22-23; Rom. 12:3-8; 1 Cor. 12; Eph. 4:4-16)

We believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but spiritual death, which is separation from God. All human beings are born with a sinful nature and those who reach moral responsibility become accountable to God for their own sin problem. (Rom. 3:23, 5:12)

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as the representative and substitutionary sacrifice for all people, and that all who accept and trust Him as their personal Lord and Savior are justified on the basis of His shed blood. We believe that our salvation is wholly a work of God’s free grace and is not the result, in whole or in part, of human works, goodness or any religious ceremony. We believe that all who receive by faith, the Lord Jesus Christ immediately become children of God. (John 3:16; Eph. 2:8-10; Titus 2:11; Acts 16:31)

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and of the unjust, the everlasting reward of the saved, and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost. (Dan 12:2; Rev 20:12; 1 Thess. 4:16)

We believe in the establishment of the Church. The Church universal consists of all those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, are redeemed through His blood and are born again of the Holy Spirit. We believe that all believers should be baptized in obedience to Christ’s commandment.  Christ is the Head of the Body, the Church, which has been commissioned by Him to go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that Jesus commanded.  The local church is a body of believers in Christ who are joined together for the worship of God, edification through the Word of God, prayer, fellowship and the proclamation of the gospel. (Matt. 16:18; Matt. 28:18-20; Heb. 10:25)
