Sometimes you hear stories or see images that are difficult to forget or push aside during our weekly routines. The crisis developing this week in Afghanistan has been that for me, as I know it has been for many of you too. I wrestled with feelings of outrage over the crisis as well as helplessness over the seemingly little hope of helping those trapped in Afghanistan. For a good article on the situation for believers in Afghanistan, please follow this link.
However, I am reminded of what James said in James 5:16 (b) – “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”
So I want to ask you to pray for situation in Afghanistan and specifically for the following:
- Pray for safety and protection of our Christian brothers and sisters there.
- Pray for those trapped in Afghanistan to be able to get out safely.
- Pray that God will stir a revival in Afghanistan which would even convert the Taliban to a saving relationship with Jesus.
Thanks for taking the time to do this and may the Lord hear our prayers.
Peter grew up in a Christian home in Southern California, but it wasn’t until he had a dramatic encounter with Jesus during a visit to Uruguay in 1991 that he truly had a “born again experience” and started following Him wholeheartedly. Peter officially took up the mantle as Lead Elder of Heritage in the summer of 2020. Besides serving God and being with his family & friends, Peter enjoys traveling, cycling, and playing hockey.
